Summer + Lab Work? Hydration Tips

Summer and Lab Work

Summer’s here, and so is the heat. If you’ve got a lab draw coming up, here’s a small thing that makes a real difference: stay hydrated.

Good hydration before a blood draw makes veins easier to find, the draw more comfortable, and certain test results (like kidney function markers) more accurate. Aim to drink water normally throughout the day leading up to your appointment; unless your provider has told you to fast or limit fluids for a specific test.

And of course, hydration matters beyond lab day. Hot Pacific Northwest summers can be overwhelming!
