Specimen:Collect:
  • One Royal Blue (No Additive)

Also Acceptable:
  • One Royal Blue (EDTA)
Submit:
  • 2 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Serum in Trace Element Free Tube. Submit Ambient.

Also Acceptable:
  • 2 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Plasma in Trace Element Free Tube. Submit Ambient.
Special Handling:
  • Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection
  • Diet, medication, and nutritional supplements may introduce interfering substances. Patients should be encouraged to discontinue nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals, and non-essential over-the-counter medications (upon the advice of their physician).
    Transfer 2 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Trace Element-Free Transport Tube. Pleae contact Client Services at (800) 700-4374 for trace element-free transport tube.
    If the specimen is drawn and stored in the appropriate container the trace element values DO NOT change with time.
Rejection Criteria:
  • Specimens collected or transported in containers other than specified.
