Where and how must specimens be collected?
- Collection must occur in a clinical setting (not at home)
- A healthcare professional must immediately place the swab into the ThinPrep media after collection
Can self-collected specimens be used for reflex cytology (Pap testing)?
No. Self-collected vaginal specimens cannot be reflexed to cytology.
Cytology testing requires cervical cells, which are not obtained from vaginal self-collection.
