Specimen:

Collect

  • One SST

Submit

  • 1.5 mL (Min:1 mL) Serum in Standard Transport Tube. Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.

Special Handling

  • Avoid repeated freeze and thaw cycles.
  • Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection
  • If F-Actin IgG by ELISA is 20 Units or greater, then Smooth Muscle Antibody IgG by IFA Titer will be added. Additional charges apply.

    Positive ANAs will reflex and report patterns and endpoint titers at no additional charge.

Rejection Criteria

  • Grossly Hemolyzed Samples
  • Grossly Lipemic Samples
  • Heat inactivated
  • Contaminated.
    Grossly Icteric.
    Inclusion of fibrin clot.
    Non serum.
