Collect
- One SST
Submit
- 2 mL (Min:0.3 mL) Serum in Standard Transport Tube. Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.
Special Handling
- Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection
- Allow serum specimen to clot completely prior to specimen centrifuge.
Serum free of fibrin and red blood cells as this can cause erroneous results.
Rejection Criteria
- Bacterially Contaminated Samples
- Grossly Hemolyzed Samples
- Heat inactivated
- Specimen collected in citrate anticoagulant.
Pooled.
Fungal growth.
Stability
