Specimen:

Collect

  • One Green Top (Li Heparin)

Also Acceptable:
  • One Green Top (Na Heparin)
  • One Lavender (EDTA)
  • One Pink Top (EDTA)

Submit

  • 4 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Whole blood in Green Top (Li Heparin). Submit Ambient.

Also Acceptable:
  • 4 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Whole blood in Lavender (EDTA). Submit Ambient.
  • 4 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Whole blood in Green Top (Na Heparin). Submit Ambient.
  • 4 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Whole blood in Pink Top (EDTA). Submit Ambient.

Special Handling

  • Critical Ambient
  • Time Sensitive
  • Specimens must reach Interpath within 24 hours of collection.

Rejection Criteria

  • Clotted Specimen
  • Hemolyzed specimens
  • Specimen submitted frozen
  • Specimen submitted refrigerated
  • Specimens submitted in pour-off tubes
  • Samples in non-Hemogard tubes.
    Samples older than 48 hours.

Ambient: 2 Day(s); Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable; Incubated: Unacceptable
