  • Specimen Preparation: Fluid: Prepare two duplicate slides. OR transfer 1 mL fluid to a sterile container.
    Tissue: To prevent drying, submit tissue specimen in sterile, non-bacteriostatic water or physiologic saline. Source of specimen is preferred.

  • Nonsterile Containers
  • Urine, stool, wounds, or other culture material from non-respiratory sites.
    Dry specimens, or specimens submitted in saline, formalin, or viral transport medium.
