Zinc, Serum

  • One Royal Blue (No Additive)

Also Acceptable:
  • One Royal Blue (EDTA)
  • 2 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Serum in Trace Element Free Tube. Submit Ambient.

Also Acceptable:
  • 2 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Plasma in Trace Element Free Tube. Submit Ambient.
Special Handling:
  • Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature
  • Separate from cells ASAP
  • Submit in trace element-free tube

    Diet, medication, and nutritional supplements may introduce interfering substances. Upon the advice of the physician, patients should be encouraged to discontinue nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals, and nonessential over-the-counter medications for one week prior to sample draw.

    Stability: If the specimen is drawn and stored in the appropriate container the trace element values do not change with time.

  • Grossly Hemolyzed Samples
  • Specimens collected or transported in containers other than specified.
  • Quantitative Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry
