Collect

  • One SST

Also Acceptable:
  • One Lavender (EDTA)
  • One Pink Top (EDTA)
  • One Red Top

Submit

  • 0.5 mL (Min:0.2 mL) Serum . Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.

Also Acceptable:
  • 0.5 mL (Min:0.2 mL) Plasma . Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.

Special Handling

  • Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature
  • Separate from cells ASAP
  • Plasma values are slightly lower than serum.

    Patient Prep: Specimen must be drawn prior to surgery or more than two days following surgery. Do not draw in recovery room.

    Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transport 0.5 mL serum or plasma. (Min: 0.1 mL)

    Remarks: Plasma values are slightly lower than serum.
