Specimen:

Collect

  • One SST

Submit

  • 0.5 mL (Min:0.3 mL) Serum in Standard Transport Tube. Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.

Special Handling

  • Avoid Repeated Freeze/Thaw Cycles
  • Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection
  • Parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of the acute specimens. Mark specimens plainly as "acute" or "convalescent."

  • Bacterially Contaminated Samples
  • Heat inactivated
  • Hemolyzed specimens
  • Icteric specimen
  • Lipemic Samples
  • Turbid Specimens
