Arsenic, Blood

  • One Royal Blue (EDTA)
  • 6 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Whole blood in Royal Blue (EDTA). Submit Ambient.
Special Handling:
  • Patient Prep: Diet, medication, and nutritional supplements may introduce interfering substances. Patient should be encouraged to discontinue nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals, and non-essential over-the-counter medications (upon the advice of their physican) and avoid shellfish and seafood for 48 to 72 hours.
    If the specimen is drawn and stored in the appropriate container the trace element values do not change with time
Rejection Criteria:
  • Clotted Specimen
  • Frozen whole blood
  • Specimens collected in tubes other than Royal Blue (EDTA).
    Specimens transported in containers other than Royal Blue (EDTA) or Trace Element-Free transport tubes.
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrophotometry
