Collect

  • Timed Urine in Timed Urine Container

Also Acceptable:
  • Random Urine in Sterile Specimen Container

Submit

  • 10 mL (Min:5 mL) Aliquot(s) Timed Urine in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Frozen.

Also Acceptable:
  • 10 mL (Min:5 mL) Random Urine in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Frozen.

Special Handling

  • 24 HR Urine Collection Preferred
  • Critical Frozen
  • Keep Specimen Refrigerated During Collection
  • Separate aliquot required for each frozen test ordered
  • State Collection Time
  • State Volume
  • Sample pH must be 5.0 - 7.0. Mix well, add 1 g boric acid/100 mL urine, adjust pH (with boric acid) to 5.0-7.0 and freeze. Do NOT use NaOH to adjust pH.

Rejection Criteria

  • Alkali preservatives (e.g. samples previously preserved with NaOH).
