Collect

  • Body Fluid in Sterile Specimen Container

Also Acceptable:
  • CSF in Sterile Specimen Container
  • Pleural Fluid in Sterile Specimen Container
  • Random Stool in Sterile Specimen Container
  • Random Urine in Sterile Specimen Container
  • Sputum in Sterile Specimen Container
  • Swab in Sterile Specimen Container
  • Tissue in Sterile Specimen Container

Submit

  • 2 mL Body Fluid in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.

Also Acceptable:
  • Swab in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.
  • Tissue in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.
  • Sputum in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.
  • Random Stool in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.
  • Random Urine in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.
  • CSF in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.
  • Pleural Fluid in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.

Special Handling

  • State Source
  • Other alternate source: Gastric Lavage
    If submitting Sputum: Collect First morning Sample. Pooled sputum specimens are not recommended. Sputum Nebulized samples are acceptable but please label as such.
    If submitting urine: Collect First morning Void.
    Anticoagulant may be added to body fluids if needed.
    Please note: For sputum samples, test 3165 Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Complex and Rifampin Resistance by PCR will be ordered in conjunction with this test. Additional charges will apply.
