Interpretive Data

Please see report for interpretive data.

This qualitative test detects Shiga-like toxin which may be produced by E. coli as well as Shigella dysenteriae type 1 strains. A positive test does not exclude the diagnosis of hemorrhagic colitis. Antimicrobial agents should not be used by patients infected with Shiga-Toxin producers since it increases the risk of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).
