Special Handling
- Time Sensitive
- Abstain from sexual intercourse or masturbation for 48 hours, but no longer than 7 days prior to collection.
Collect the specimen by masturbation and ejaculate into a clean plastic container provided by the laboratory.
If masturbation is not possible, please consult your doctor.
Rejection Criteria
- Must be delivered to laboratory within 1 hour of collection.
DO NOT USE A CONDOM.

CATEGORIES OF SPERM MOVEMENT:
Progressive motility (PM)-Spermatozoa moving actively, either linearly or in a large circle, regardless of speed.
Non-progressive motility (NM)- all other patterns of motility with an absence of progression, ex.(Moving in small circles, the flagellar force hardly displacing the head, or when only a flagellar beat can be observed).
ROUND CELLS: Round cells are collectively epithelial cells, prostate cells, spermatogenic cells and leukocytes.
Interpath Laboratory uses strict criteria to evaluate and report sperm morphology. The reference ranges on this report correspond to the lower reference limit values provided by the World Health Organization's Laboratory Manual for Examination and Processing of Human Semen, 5th Edition, 2010.
