A NEGATIVE RESULT DOES NOT PRECLUDE INFECTION BY THE TESTED VIRAL ETIOLOGY. A POSITIVE RESULT INDICATES THE DETECTION OF NUCLEIC ACID FROM THE RELEVANT VIRUS. HOWEVER, NUCLEIC ACID MAY PERSIST EVEN AFTER THE VIRUS IS NO LONGER VIABLE.
