  • One SST

Submit

  • 1 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Serum in Standard Transport Tube. Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.

Special Handling

  • Avoid Repeated Freeze/Thaw Cycles
  • For patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (>5 mg/day), no laboratory test specimen should be collected until at least 8 hours after the last biotin administration.
  • Minimize air exposure
  • Reference range is applicable only to samples collected at 8:00am following administration of 1 mg dexamethasone at midnight.

Protocols for dexamethasone suppression testing vary. The below reference range is applicable only to samples collected at 8:00 am following administration of 1 mg dexamethasone at midnight.

Reference Range:
Collection time 8:00am post 1mg dexamethasone given at midnight: 0.0-1.8 ug/dL.
Biotin in specimens taken from patients on high dose biotin therapy or supplements may interfere with this test and cause inaccurate test results. It is recommended that for patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (>5 mg/day), no laboratory test specimen should be collected until at least 8 hours after the last biotin administration.
