Collect

  • One Lavender (EDTA)

Also Acceptable:
  • One Pink Top (EDTA)

Submit

  • 4 mL (Min:2 mL) Whole blood . Submit Refrigerated.

Also Acceptable:
  • 2 mL (Min:1 mL) Plasma . Submit Frozen. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.

Special Handling

  • EDTA frozen plasma can be submitted frozen and extends stability to 1 month

Interpretive Data

General Reference Range : <400 D-DU ng/mL
A negative D-Dimer test virtually rules out active thrombotic events. (Deep Venous Thrombosis, DIC, Pulmonary Embolus). Positive D-Dimer results cannot rule-in diagnosis of thrombotic events. Thrombotic events should be confirmed by other objective tests.
