Interpretive Data: | ANTI-HBs INTERPRETIVE NOTES: NEGATIVE: NEGATIVE FOR ANTI-HBs MAY INDICATE LACK OF IMMUNITY TO FUTURE HEPATITIS B VIRUS INFECTIONS. HOWEVER, THIS TEST ALONE CANNOT RULE OUT EARLY ACTIVE INFECTION. ORDER HEPATITIS B PANEL. POSITIVE: A POSITIVE ANTI-HBs RESULT INDICATES AN ANTIBODY LEVEL EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN 11.5 mIU/ml WHICH INDICATES CURRENT IMMUNITY TO HEPATITIS B VIRUS INFECTION. HOWEVER, THIS TEST ALONE CANNOT RULE OUT A POSSIBLE CHRONIC HEPATITIS B VIRUS INFECTION. ORDER HEPATITIS B PANEL. Biotin in specimens taken from patients on high-dose biotin therapy or supplements may intefere with this test and cause inaccurate test results. It is recommended that for patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (> 5 mg/day), no laboratory test specimen should be collected until at least 8 hours after the last biotin administration. | |
