Specimen:Collect:
  • Nasopharyngeal Swab in Viral Transport Media

Also Acceptable:
  • Aspirate in Viral Transport Media
  • Washing in Aspirate in Viral Transport Media
Submit:
  • Nasopharyngeal Swab in Viral Transport Media. Submit Refrigerated.

Also Acceptable:
  • Aspirate in Viral Transport Media. Submit Refrigerated.
  • Washing in Viral Transport Media. Submit Refrigerated.
Special Handling:
  • Swab must be in VTM within one hour of collection
    Swab the back of the throat or nares vigorously. This will provide the cells that are important to perform the testing.
