Specimen:Collect:
  • One SST

Also Acceptable:
  • One Red Top
Submit:
  • 1 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Serum . Submit Frozen. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.
Special Handling:
  • Avoid Repeated Freeze/Thaw Cycles
  • Protect from Light
  • Separate from cells ASAP
  • Includes Total CK with fractions calculated by percent of activity.

    This test should only be ordered if the presence of atypical CK isoenzymes is suspected, such as in brain damage. For management of patients with chest pain, consider ordering CK-MB, 1979.
