Specimen:Collect:
  • Random Stool in O&P Transport Media-10% Formalin
  • Random Stool in O&P Transport Media-PVA Fixative
Submit:
  • One Random Stool in O&P Transport Media-10% Formalin. Submit Ambient.
  • One Random Stool in O&P Transport Media-PVA Fixative. Submit Ambient.
Special Handling:
  • Recommendation is 3 samples collected over 6
    days, never collect two samples on same day.
    Put stool into vials ASAP and fill to line only.

    For Schistosoma spp., an alternate submit of 30mL urine without preservatives submitted refrigerated is acceptable. Urine stability 7 days refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria:
  • Leaking Container
  • Specimens contaminated with oil, barium, or urine.
    Multiple specimens (more than one in 24 hours).
    Unpreserved specimens more than 2 hours old.
    Rectal Swabs.
    Overfilled O&P Kits
