Specimen:Collect:
  • One Lavender (EDTA)
  • One SST

Also Acceptable:
  • One Pink Top (EDTA)
  • One Red Top
Submit:
  • 2 mL (Min:1 mL) Serum . Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.
  • 4 mL (Min:1 mL) Whole blood in 4 mL Lavender (EDTA). Submit Refrigerated.
Special Handling:
  • Fasting Specimen is Preferred
  • Protect from Light
  • Minimize air exposure
  • Recommend to draw in the AM, Iron values decrease by 30 percent during the course of the day.
