Specimen:

Collect:

One 7 mL Royal Blue (EDTA)
Random Urine

Submit:

One 5 mL Random Urine in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Frozen.
Two 5 mL Random Urine in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.
7 mL (Min:5 mL) Whole blood. Submit Refrigerated.

Special Handling:

Submit 3 aliquots for urine, labeled with test:
1. B2 Micro - Adjust pH 6-8 with 1M HCl or 5% NaOH - freeze immediately.
2. Cadmium - Add 0.1 mL 12M HNO to aliquot - refrigerate.
3. Creatinine - No adjustment - refrigerate

Rejection Criteria:

Urine collected within 48 hours after administration of a gadolinium (Gd) containing contrast media (may occur with MRI studies).
