Specimen:

Collect:

Three Random Urine
Four 4 mL Gray Top

Also Acceptable
Four 4 mL Green Top (Li Heparin)
Four 4 mL Lavender (EDTA)
Four 7.5 mL SST

Submit:

Three 10 mL (Min:1 mL) Random Urine in Sterile Specimen Container. Submit Refrigerated.
Four Whole blood in 4 mL Gray Top. Submit Refrigerated.

Also Acceptable
Four 1 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Plasma. Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.
Four 1 mL (Min:0.5 mL) Serum. Submit Refrigerated. Submit in a Standard Transport Tube.

Special Handling:

Draw fasting specimen and collect fasting urine, then give 75gm glucola. At 1/2 hour draw "1/2 HR" post sample. At 1 hour draw "1 HR" post sample and collect "1 HR" urine. At 2 hour draw "2 HR" post sample and collect "2 HR" urine.
Label tubes "Fasting", "1/2 HR", "1 HR", and "2 HR".
