We have also developed our own in-house programs to provide training and continuing education to current employees as well as support the academic preparation of students wanting to work in laboratory medicine.

Phlebotomists/Specimen Processors

Interpath has an internal phlebotomy program that allows the student to learn the basics of specimen collection, and then provides for a clinical program that allows the student to sit for national certification in phlebotomy. Phlebotomists need to be multitalented with abilities to interact with patients in stressful situations. Phlebotomists are also trained in specimen processing. Both of these positions are excellent areas for individuals to start their career in the medical laboratory field.

Medical Laboratory Technician

Interpath Laboratory is also a clinical training site for the Wenatchee Valley College Medical Laboratory Technician program. The agreement allows the student to take all of their classes locally {on campuses such as Blue Mountain Community College or Columbia Basin College} and finish their clinical training at Interpath. The first three quarters of course work are prescience courses preparatory to the MLT courses. The last five quarters of the program are spent concentrating on the various disciplines of the medical laboratory, both through course work and clinical training at Interpath Laboratory. The course work is taught by the use of interactive TV through Wenatchee Valley College.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Interpath Laboratory is a clinical training site for the University of North Dakota, Idaho State University and Oregon Institute of Technology's twelve-month Clinical Laboratory Science programs. The programs are based on a 4+1 curriculum, designed for those with a bachelors degree in a science related major. The University of North Dakota's program includes a four-month summer program at the university (May through August) followed by an eight-month clinical internship at Interpath. Oregon Institute of Technology and Idaho State University's program is a nine-month university based program with a three-month clinical internship.
